More, a Californian duo, were the beginning act to Yoke Lore's gig two weeks ago. Consisting of Kane and Malcolm, the two boys are insanely talented singers and musicians. With some synth-y, both upbeat and melancholy songs that have indie and seventies hints, these boys are perfectly emerging into the music world with great quality music and sound.
I had the pleasure to meet the boys and they were absolutely lovely. It's truly a luxury, in this industry, to meet artists and them be everything you hope and more. They took the photo's of us all together, waved at me whenever they saw me, spoke to me enthusiastically and kindly, and were legitimate in their conversations and performance. I was overwhelmingly pleased to have been met with so much kindness.
The duo played some new songs that haven't been heard yet and they were great. More have created a set image for themselves, knowing exactly the kind of sound and atmosphere, which is also emphasised by their recent photoshoots and aesthetic of black and white - it's always great when artists become defined in their image and vary in their sound.
During their set, Malcolm accidentally smashed his favourite guitar. He was clearly devastated, but kept a smile on his face. Although it seems like something small, professional composure it's a great trait to have as a musician, especially as a live performer, as is openly showing and speaking on real emotion.
In all honesty, I wish the two of them had a bit more space to perform because I would have loved to see what they would have done with it. I think that it would give them more of an opportunity to show their personalities on stage, and emphasise the passion they have for what they're creating.
Ultimately, I think this duo is absolutely great and I can't wait to see more from them with what is to come. These two have some great potential and I can see them getting even bigger in the near future. If you have a chance to, see More live - you won't regret it!
