ME: Humour is such a big part of your image, was it naturally inter grained into your stuff?
RAY BULL: We're just naturally hilarious guys *they laugh*. No, i think it's baked in to our personalities, it's second nature we don't really thinnk about it. We were friends before we made music together and so that made things easier for us as well.
M: What was it about covid-times that made you start making music together?
RB: Well we started making music together just before covid; we realised that the other made music and it sort of naturally came together from there! We both had a similar background and made music before we knew it of each other. It just naturally came together, we were the only people we knew who made music.
M: Considering you’ve been doing this only for a couple of years you’ve gained a lot of traction really quickly, how has that felt?
RB: It feels good but it has been quick. Even though its been quick, it definitely still feels like a grind, you know? Day in day out kind of thing. It is ultimately with a little perspective like wow.
M: When you started to make and release music did you expect this much attention/a reaction?
RB: I don't think we had any expectations at all, i mean, you can dream right but we never expected it to come true.
M: What did you want to achieve by releasing music?
RB: Well, we have achieved stuff we wanted to but you're never really satisfied are you? It's pretty nice but we're no where near done yet so.
M: You had your debut show this year - how did that go?
RB: It was fun! We're not natural performers. But we've found it's really fun, the fact people like us enough to spend fifteen dollars to come see us is crazy to us.
M: Know by now is one of my favourite songs at the moment; what inspired it?
RB: Thank you! It started with the drum beat alone. The core of that song is like a conversation between two voices. It's hard for us to say what our songs are about is because we're writing as a duo, its not coming from a singular place. It's back to back.
M: Can we look forward to anything else new soon?
RB: Yes! We're working on stuff constantly. There's some singles, EPs, definitely an album or multiple at once haha. We constantly have ideas and not enough time and we love working on visuals too so theres so many things to work on all the time.
M: What would you say your main message or goal is with your music?
RB: The way I want to exist artistically in the world is a really big part of my message; keep it weird. That's what our message is; keep it weird.
M: I like to end on a fun one; if you could have a comedian come on stage with you who would it be?
RB: We both love Tim Heidecker and he does some music so it seems relevant haha!
