ME: your stage name is forever dream. where did that name come from?
FOREVER DREAM: my old stage name used to have the word dream girl in it but i finally came out as non-binary and wanted to still keep dream in my name. i also like the angel numbers 444 so it’s a little play on word with forever. i’m also a huge dreamer and will forever be dreaming.
M: you only started releasing music on spotify this year. What pushed you to make the move?
FD: i decided i wanted to get more serious about my music and my stuff on soundcloud was all demos that weren’t properly mixed. this year i learned how to start mixing my vocals better and spotify is easier for people to discover your music. i also wanted to make sure i had the right music i wanted to put out before i did something big like releasing on spotify.
M: just like your name, your covers for your singles are dreamy and aesthetic. where do the cover ideas come from?
FD: i just love anything ethereal and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. i have a lot of inspiration from online and from other artists. i love using my own photography for cover art.
M: do you create and edit your own covers?
FD: yes! it’s all my own photography!
M: I always find it so interesting when artists choose to just use lowercase letters. Is this for aesthetic purposes for you?
FD: i think it’s mostly for aesthetic purposes. i just like the way it looks :)
M: where does your biggest music inspo come from?
FD: i’m very inspired by shoegaze and ambient music. i love anything with reverb. some of my inspirations are cocteau twins and yeule.
M: you already have a few monthly listeners. How does it feel knowing several people stream your music often?
FD: it feels amazing! i hope in the next few months i can attract more listeners!
M: what is your current goal with your music?
FD: just to keep creating and doing what i love. you just have to remember what you love to do and have fun with it. i hope that i can release an ep or album eventually and create music videos and maybe even one day play shows. for now i just make my music in my bedroom and just want to create and share what i love to do.
M: you started releasing on soundcloud. Have you found more success on there than Spotify or the other way around?
FD: right now soundcloud isn’t really the way to get your music out anymore. people don’t use it as much and it’s more difficult to get discovered. i know with time, spotify will help me get more listeners.
M: I like to end on a fun one. If you were writing a song about someone you love what would it be called?
FD: i would call it “lover in the night” or “the girl/boy/enby of my dreams”.
