I Finally Saw my Favourite Band Live; Here's How it Went. First Aid Kit Live Review

I've been a fan of First Aid Kit since 2015. That's right, I was barely thirteen. Now, twenty, I finally got to see my favourite band of all time live. And, although I didn't quite get to hear my all time favourite song by them (To Live a Life) by them, I still got to hear almost every other one.

A great thing off the bat about these two is that their energy is so personal and real. There is such a genuine, loving attachment to their music, to the point of becoming rather emotional on stage (understandably). They dance and use up all the space on the stage, covering everyone in gallons of confetti whilst thanking everyone after every single song's applause. And let's not forget, the stunning, stylish outfit change before the encore!

The visuals were beautiful, with a background reveal a few songs in and film/tape footage projected behind them. There's no better way to describe it than first-aid-kit-esque, which is how you know they nailed their own aesthetic, performance and overall show. It was a show that I know would be very hard to forget, even if it wasn't my favourite band, because of the sheer atmosphere they created.

I may have been front row right in the centre, so call me bias, but the girls make it a very big thing to frequently lock eyes with as many people as possible. They sincerely care about everyone there, showing them support. So, how did they sound?

Insane. Incredible. All of the above. Times ten. If you aren't familiar with First Aid Kit, they are known for their insanely beautiful harmonies. Live? They're even more beautiful. I formed a real obsession with harmonising during my two years of music a-levels and sang this bands songs for my final assessment - so it was SURREAL hearing how effortlessly they sing together with such technique and perfection.

With a tribute to Fleetwood Mac after their recent loss, a three-song encore and a setlist ranging from their first debut album to their most recent, Palomino, which came out this month, this band is more than aware of who their audience are and are an absolute must to see live.
